Parents @ TWS

Toronto Waldorf School encourages parents and other family members to become involved in our school community.  There is a wide range of opportunities to suit your interests and skills, such as:

Individual classes – contact your class teacher

  • Help in your child’s class with outings and trips
  • Volunteer in the class to support reading groups, or handwork
  • Help with festivals celebrated in the classroom, or the production of class plays

Candlelight Fair – contact Catherine Daugherty

  • This annual fundraising event is held each November to support the Tuition Adjustment Program.
  • Proceeds from the Fair support the annual fund to increase the financial accessibility  of TWS to families in need.
  • Students, parents, teachers, alumni/ae and friends come together to create a magical event for children and a unique market experience for shoppers of all ages.
  • Parents are encouraged to work contribute a minimum of 2 hours at this event each year

Conferences, Guest Speakers, Workshops

  • Throughout the year we host speakers, conferences and other events to support parents and teachers in meeting the challenges of raising children in today’s times. Please visit our Events Calendar to see what’s coming up.
  • Gateways is a very popular annual Spring Conference, now in its 14th year, for parents interested in issues relating to children from birth to age 7.

Volunteer Opportunities  - contact Catherine Daugherty

  • Participate in the Children’s Corner, a group that meets weekly to produce small handcrafts and toys for the Candlelight Fair.   Wednesdays, 8:45 am to noon, when school is in session.   A great social opportunity to meet other parents.  Young children are welcome.
  • Like all not-for-profit organizations, volunteers are a big part of what makes our school work. If you have expertise to lend, whether your skills are in crafts, carpentry or clerical work, finance or computers, we may have a place for you to contribute. Contact our Development Office if you are interested.
