Rachel Aide

Rachel Aide

Teacher (English, History) – High School

Rachel has a B.A. Hons. from Victoria University in the University of Toronto, and a B.Ed. (After Degree) from the University of Alberta. She has held teaching certification for both Alberta and Ontario, and is a graduate of the Waldorf teacher training at the Center for Anthroposophy in Wilton, New Hampshire.

Teacher (Phys Ed, Biology), Grade 9 Class Advisor – High School

George has a B.Sc. from the University of Craiova in Romania, and additional qualifications in science teaching and basic psychology from York University and Phys. Ed. from Lakehead University.  George also has national coaching certification from the Coaching Association of Canada to level II NCPP in gymnastics and to level 2 in basketball.He is currently his third year of in service training at SDI. George has been teaching at TWS since 2000.

Sara Anderson

Alumni/ae Coordinator – Administration

Sara is a graduate of Toronto Waldorf School (Class of '85) and has been involved in the Alumni/ae Association from its early years. With the Development Officer and Alumni/ae Volunteer Committee, she is working to strengthen the relationship between alumni/ae and TWS, expand the alumni/ae network and develop new initiatives for the program. She organizes and hosts several annual events including the Alumni/ae Vendor & Meeting Room at the Candlelight Fair and the 20-Year Alumni/ae Reunion.  Sara has three children who attend Alan Howard Waldorf School in downtown Toronto. She works as an English Language and Communication Specialist in the corporate sector.  She holds a B.A. in Linguistics from McGill University, a B.Ed. from the University of Toronto and an M.Ed. in Second Language Education from OISE, U of T.

Kate Anthony

Kate Anthony

Grade 1 Teacher – Lower School

Kate joined TWS in 2007 after completing Waldorf Teacher training at the Rudolf Steiner Centre that year.  She worked as an Intern her first year at TWS, and is now taking over the Grade 1 class.  Kate's gift for story telling will be much appreciated by this class.

Dandelion Nursery Teacher – Early Childhood

Ilse completed the Waldorf Teacher Education program at the Rudolf Steiner Centre, Toronto. She also completed the Waldorf Collaborative Leadership program at the Rudolf Steiner Centre in conjunction with Antioch University in the spring of 2006. Ilse has a Home Economics diploma from the National Institute for Economic Professions in Graz, Austria. She has been teaching at TWS since 1993, and served as Early Childhood  Co-Chair on the Circle of Chairs for 4 years. She enjoys reading, tai chi and hiking.

Les Black

Les Black

Grade 8 Teacher, Lower School Chair, Member of the Circle of Chairs – Lower School

Les has a B.A. from Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec. His interest in teaching led him to gain pre-training experiences through years at Crescent School and Lakefield College School. He did teacher training at the Poulton-le-Fylde College of Education in Lancashire, England, and has been a member of the Ontario College of Teachers. He taught for seven years in the Fort Frances - Rainy River Board of Education. He has completed the Spatial Dynamics in-service training at Sunbridge College in Spring Valley, New York. He has been at TWS since 1983 as a class teacher and is currently taking his third class from Grade 1 to Grade 8. He helped create the TWS Diversacare program.

Margaret Bleek

Margaret Bleek

Teacher (Handwork, Education Support) – Lower School

Margaret has a B.A. from Smith College in Massachusetts, and an M.A. from Princeton University. She is a graduate of the Waldorf Teacher Education program at the Rudolf Steiner Centre, Toronto, and of the applied arts program at Sunbridge College, NY. She has a remedial certificate from the Association for a Healing Education. She has taught here at TWS since 1987.

Eva Cabaca

Eva Cabaca

Gardening Teacher – Lower School

Eva has a wide range of education and experience ranging from nutrition to ESL to science. She completed the Foundation Studies at the Rudolf Steiner Centre Toronto in Spring, 2006.  She has a diploma in Applied Holistic Nutrition and is a Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner.  She has an ESL teaching certificate from University of Toronto and a degree in Science Education from University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. Eva has also studied pharmacognosy and holds a certificate in Healing with Herbs.  She taught at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition and ran her own consulting practice prior to joining TWS as the full-time Gardening Teacher in 2007. Since 2005 Eva has served as a guide at the Carrville Community Garden.  She enjoys supporting parents of children with allergies and other health challenges and presenting food workshops to the gardening community and the TWS Early Childhood Conference, Gateways.

Heather Church

Heather Church

Birchgrove Kindergarten Teacher – Early Childhood

Heather has been at TWS since 2004; she taught at the Huronia Waldorf School for five years previously. She has a diploma from the Ontario College of Art and Design and a certificate in Waldorf Early Childhood Education from Sunbridge College in Spring Valley, NY. She recently completed her studies in "The Child in the First Three Years" at Sophia's Hearth Family Center. Heather has two children currently attending TWS.

Sandi Churchward

Sandi Churchward

Teacher (Fine Arts), Member of the Therapeutic Circle – High School, Lower School

Sandi has a B.A. from Wilfred Laurier University in Psychology. She pursued arts education at Ontario College of Art and Design, and Arscura School for Living Art in Toronto. She studied Waldorf Teacher Education at the Rudolf Steiner Centre, Toronto. Sandi has participated in many arts-based courses, including the Rudolf Steiner Institute, and is currently a member of the North American Geomancy School. Her passions are painting, art history and the role of arts in education, health and the social sphere.
