We welcome inquiries from parents and families wishing to learn more about Toronto Waldorf School. The following process is designed to help you understand what Toronto Waldorf School would bring to your children, and how you could support your children's education here.
Information on this page applies only to our school-age programs (nursery through Grade 12). For information about admission to our Joyful Beginnings and Parent & Tot programs, click on the appropriate link. Fees for all programs are listed on this page.
Attend a Tour or Open House
Tours are scheduled regularly. We typically provide a brief presentation about Waldorf education and Toronto Waldorf School, look into classrooms while students are working, and answer your questions. Further reference information will be available at this tour. Please register for these events by calling 905-881-1611.
An Open House provides opportunities to see work done by TWS students, talk to teachers, and visit our unique and beautiful school grounds. Classes are not in session during an Open House.
Our nursery teachers provide an Introduction to the Waldorf Nursery each year in February, and again in March or April. If you are applying for this program you are strongly encouraged to attend one of these talks. Please check the nursery page or call 905-881-1611 for dates.
Complete an Application
You may download the application form (PDF, 2 pages, 200 KB) or pick it up at the school. Return the completed form to the admissions coordinator along with a non-refundable $125 application fee ($10 for Parent & Tot).
Attend an Admissions Interview
You and your children will attend an interview with the class teacher or high school advisors. Also, one of our educational support teachers will meet with children enrolling in grades 1 through 8. If there is no opening in an appropriate class, the child's name will be added to a waiting list.
Arrange for Your Child to Visit the Class
After the interview and at the recommendation of the teachers, children applying to Grades 1 through 8 will be invited to visit the class for a few days. They will have the opportunity to experience school days with their peers at TWS, and the teachers will have an opportunity to see the children at work in the class.
Visits for students applying to grades 9 through 12 may be arranged on an individual basis.
Early Childhood children do not visit classes.
Sign the Contract
After a student has been accepted by the teacher or advisors, the admissions coordinator will contact you to confirm that you are ready to have a contract produced. You can then schedule a short appointment with the business manager to review the contract and your payment options.
Timing
The application process is such that spaces for the following academic year typically become available at the beginning of March, but new students can be interviewed before this date. Where space permits, students may be accepted into TWS throughout the year.
