Policy Summary
Tuition adjustment arises out of the desire to make education at TWS as accessible as possible within our budget resources. Every attempt is made to distribute tuition adjustment awards fairly based on need; the needs analysis considers net family income and assets.
This policy provides the Tuition Adjustment Committee with clear guidelines to ensure all applicants have equal opportunity to receive a tuition adjustment.

The family's net worth, including business assets, will be considered in the awarding of tuition adjustment. All sources of income must be declared.
The Board determines the funds available for Tuition Adjustment each year.
2. The amount of adjustment to each applicant will be based on the Apple Financial recommendations pro-rated to the Tuition Adjustment budget.
3. The TWS Business Office communicates adjustment awards by letter, with a deadline for acceptance of the amount. There is an appeals process for those not satisfied with the amount of tuition adjustment.

The Tuition Adjustment Committee
A committee of the Board of Trustees consisting of:- the Development Officer
- the Business Manager
- two individuals with no direct ties to TWS, but who have a sympathy for and an understanding of Toronto Waldorf School and the philosophy behind Waldorf education
The Committee will consider:
- Current and new families who do not have the financial means to pay the full contract fee for their children
- Families who encounter unexpected financial hardship during the school year
The family's net worth, including business assets, will be considered in the awarding of tuition adjustment. All sources of income must be declared.

The Application
- All students enrolled in Nursery to Grade 12 are eligible.
- An application package with instructions can be downloaded here.
- The application is submitted directly to Apple Financial Services. Submission deadlines are strictly enforced.
The Tuition Adjustment Award Process
1. The Business Office reviews all reports received from Apple Financial Services verifying that:- required criteria have been met
- the family's account is in good standing.
2. The amount of adjustment to each applicant will be based on the Apple Financial recommendations pro-rated to the Tuition Adjustment budget.
3. The TWS Business Office communicates adjustment awards by letter, with a deadline for acceptance of the amount. There is an appeals process for those not satisfied with the amount of tuition adjustment.
