Welcome to the alumni/ae pages
March 20, 2008
Dear alumni/ae,
I don’t know about you, but I start getting excited around this time of year. Yes, I realize there is still snow on the ground (at least there is in Toronto), but temperatures have begun to climb, birds have returned and a sense of renewal is in the air. Winter is on its way out!
I’m also feeling excited about the developments in the alumni/ae program and the school’s new website that is nearing completion. One of our critical needs is to make communications more efficient.
The new alumni/ae centre will go a long way to making this a reality, but we will also need to have a liaison in place for every class year. This will help streamline communications and help avoid unnecessary mass mailings.
I’m still ever hopeful and optimistic that individuals will step up for their class and fill the class liaison role – which is minimal in scope. We have large gaps from 1989 on to the present, so please have a look at the Volunteers & Contributions page in the Alumni/ae Program section for a complete list of liaisons to date. I urge you to consider being the social contact person for your class: it’s a fun role.
Further developments in the program involve questions the alumni/ae committee, the school and I are asking ourselves as we work to shape the future:
- What do we want the Alumni/ae Association to do for us?
- How can we help alumni/ae stay connected to the school?
- How often would we like to get together with our classmates and other alums?
- What kind of events would we like to see being offered, social, educational or otherwise?
Would you like to offer any input into this process? I’m all ears, so drop me a note anytime. I hope my excitement is contagious.
Sara
There are over 1,000 alumni and alumnae of the school dispersed around the world and active in every conceivable walk of life. These pages will help us keep in touch with each other and the school. Through them friendships can be renewed, new connections can be made, and we will be able to revisit the school and our memories of it without leaving the comfort of our own homes.
The mission of the Alumni/ae Association is to:
- Provide a means by which former students of the Toronto Waldorf School can get in touch with each other and build a strong alumni and alumnae community;
- Facilitate a vibrant, supportive interaction between the school and every alumna and alumnus;
- Organize support of the school and its current students by former students;
- Inform former students about their Waldorf education; and inform the school community about the alumni and alumnae experience after graduation.
