Alumni/ae

November, 2008

Hello alumni/ae,

It seems as I feared; we’re in for an early winter.  The cold weather’s moving in is a portent of the icy days to come.  The north wind also reminds us that it’s time for the Candlelight Fair.

The Fair is coming up on Saturday, November 15th, so mark it in your calendars.  The Music Room will continue to be our gathering spot and will feature our fantastic alumni/ae vendors, some of the usual suspects and some new faces.  This year we are excited to have our own Layah Jane, ‘00, come out to grace us with a few musical performances, so be sure to come by and enjoy.  Her CDs and swag will be on hand for purchase.

You can check out a few of Layah’s folksy jazz tunes by clicking on these YouTube links: Reverence and Ridicule and  Put your foot down from the Rochester Jazz Fest.

You might also like to get a dose of art culture at the Craig Scott Gallery, 95 Berkeley Street in downtown Toronto.  Christian McLeod ’86 will be showing his new collection of remarkably evocative paintings, which portrays “unique narrative abstracts [and] urban landscapes framed by the theme of surveillance and evasion”, until Nov 23.  Please visit the gallery’s website for details.

Our alumni/ae are indeed a talented bunch and we are growing in number.  The alumni/ae database now contains the names of most of our alumni/ae from all of our 30 graduating classes, starting in 1979 up to and including 2008.  Let’s see how clever you are:  Can anyone guess the total number of alums currently on our database?  The person with the closest number to the actual figure will be the winner whose name I will announce here in my next blurb.  Get estimating! (Katja: I’m afraid your entry will not be considered!)

Speaking of alumni/ae talent, the new issue of outofbounds is near completion and almost ready for mailout.  If your address has changed recently, please let me know so you don’t miss out on your copy.

Hope to see you at the Candlelight Fair!

Welcome to the Alumni/ae section of the new TWS website. We’ve been working steadily on this site for some months and are pleased to make it available now.

To support the transition the Members’ Centre has been suspended for a short period of time. Please enjoy the Alumni/ae News, outofbounds and the rest of the TWS site. You’ll find information on education from a deeper perspective™, our new moniker for a TWS education. You may find it interesting to view your TWS schooling from this perspective!

We are finalizing the transition to the new Alumni/ae Centre and look forward to launching it soon. The new Alumni/ae Centre is based on email addresses, so be sure to share yours with Sara if you have an update for us.

We look forward to hearing from you via the Contact TWS link at the top of each page if you have questions or comments.

Warmly,
Michèle Andrews Rossi
Administrative Director
