Rachel has studied and taught eurythmy since 1974. She is a graduate of the London School of Eurythmy and Emerson College, England. She has received a therapeutic eurythmy diploma and certification from the medical section of the Goetheanum in Switzerland. Ed. from Sunbridge College, N.Y., and Massachusetts State Teacher's Certification in Elementary Education for Grades 1-6 and Moderate Special Needs for kindergarten to Grade 12. She has taught students from kindergarten through Grade 12 in public, private and Waldorf school settings.
Rachel specializes in treating children with developmental disorders, learning disabilities and educational difficulties. She has been involved as a developmental specialist and consultant designing and implementing programs, training staff, and teaching in Waldorf and public schools for many years. She lectures and offers workshops to parents, teachers, and specialists throughout the United States, Brazil, Spain, and Ireland. She is a faculty member of the Waldorf Resource Teacher Training Program in Brazil, and a teacher and co-director of training programs in Spain, Ireland, and Canada. She also teaches in the North East LifeWays Training and the part-time teacher training programs for Sunbridge College and the Nova Institute in Washington, D.C. Rachel tries to address the particular needs of students, and help teachers and parents understand what stands behind the child’s behavioural, social, and educational needs, and then develop practical strategies to meet these needs. This approach strives to deal with the whole child rather than just find a label for the problem. |
